Job Description
The Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Foreman is responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems on-site. They lead a team of technicians, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership:
Lead and supervise a team of electrical and instrumentation technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring that work is distributed effectively and completed on schedule.Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. -
Installation and Maintenance:
Oversee the installation, calibration, testing, and commissioning of electrical and instrumentation systems, including sensors, meters, controllers, and control panels.Ensure that all installations comply with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards, such as NEC, API, and ISA.Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment reliability and minimize downtime. -
Troubleshooting and Repairs:
Diagnose electrical and instrumentation problems, analyze root causes, and develop effective repair strategies.Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to procure replacement parts, components, and equipment as needed.Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repairs as required, providing technical expertise and guidance to team members. -
Safety and Compliance:
Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash, and electrical safety.Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.Provide safety training and toolbox talks to educate team members on safe work practices and hazard mitigation. -
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of equipment installations, maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.Generate reports on equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance metrics.Document changes to electrical and instrumentation systems, including as-built drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification is preferred.
- Proven experience as an electrical or instrumentation technician, with at least 5 years of relevant experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, including wiring, schematics, PLCs, DCS, and process control instrumentation.
- Familiarity with industrial standards and codes, such as NEC, NFPA, API, and ISA.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation problems and implementing effective solutions.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Certifications:
- Journeyman Electrician License (preferred).
- Instrumentation Technician Certification (, ISA Certified Control Systems Technician - CCST) (preferred).
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (preferred).
