About the Role :
The Strategic Sourcing Procurement Manager will oversee all procurement activity for a multi-site operation, ensuring reliable supply of raw materials, packaging, and operating goods that support both plant production and retail distribution. This position serves as the central point for vendor strategy, cost control, inventory oversight, and sourcing process development. The role requires periodic travel to manufacturing locations and close partnership with Operations, Planning, and Finance to maintain service levels, control spend, and improve purchasing performance.
Responsibilities :
- Own the procurement function for several operating sites, including sourcing, competitive bidding, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management
- Monitor market activity and raw material trends to anticipate supply constraints, evaluate cost drivers, and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly
- Build and maintain vendor relationships; resolve delivery, pricing, and service issues when they arise
- Oversee inventory planning, replenishment, and cycle-count accuracy to support production schedules and customer fulfillment
- Develop sourcing procedures, purchasing standards, and reporting tools to improve visibility and streamline workflows
- Coordinate with Finance to support budget planning, spend analysis, and cost-tracking efforts
- Drive cost-reduction initiatives using negotiation, process optimization, and alternative supplier options
- Ensure accurate material specifications, safety documentation, and compliance requirements for all purchased items
- Lead procurement staff involved in buying, materials movement, or vendor administration
- Prepare recurring reports on purchasing activity, supplier metrics, and market conditions
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Finance, or related discipline5+ years of procurement or sourcing experience in a manufacturing environment; experience with blended, batch, or chemical-related production is beneficialBackground supporting professional or retail distribution channelsStrong track record in vendor negotiations, contract management, and cost-savings initiativesAdvanced Excel capabilities and confidence working with ERP or procurement platformsExperience purchasing chemicals or raw materials is highly preferredPrevious experience in team-leadership, building SOPs and proven success managing both domestic and international suppliers
