POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss' Solar Controller is responsible for all accounting and financial reporting, including recruiting, development, and leadership of accounting staff and maintaining control systems for a dynamic, rapid growth, fast paced Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Business Unit in the solar industry with revenues exceeding $2B per year.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and manage the accounting department, including project accountants and staff accounting personnel. Oversee the business unit monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes; ensure timely and accurate reporting in compliance with GAAP
• Monitor and analyze project financial performance, including revenue recognition (percentage-of-completion), cost forecasting, and variance analysis; key leader on the WIP and project forecasting
• Supervises complex journal entries and understands their impact on the balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows and other reports as required by Senior Management
• Mentor and develop a high-performing team with a focus on continuous improvement
• Support systems optimization and automation across the accounting function (e.g., ERP upgrades, process enhancements); the company is preparing for an ERP upgrade in the next 2 years, so supporting and coordinating with the corporate team and Finance Transformation team will be critical
• Recommends / implements new and / or modifications to internal control procedures
• Collaborates with FP&A and treasury to support annual budget, forecasts, LRPs and cash management
• Collaborates with Operations teams (i.e. PM's, asset management teams, HR / staffing teams) to ensure accurate status and provide necessary training
• Supports special projects directed by Senior Management
• Support annual external audit and yearend financial reporting for the business unit
• Perform other duties as assigned
