The Carbon Robotics LaserWeeder™ leverages advanced robotics, computer vision, AI / deep learning, and lasers to eliminate weeds with sub-millimeter accuracy-all without herbicides. This innovative solution reduces environmental impact, promotes soil health, and helps farmers address labor shortages and rising costs. Designed in Seattle and built at our cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Richland, Washington, the LaserWeeder is setting a new standard for automated weed control. With $157 million in funding from prominent investors such as BOND, NVentures (NVIDIA's venture arm), Anthos Capital, Fuse Venture Capital, Ignition Partners, Revolution, Sozo Ventures, and Voyager Capital , Carbon Robotics is driving innovation.

As Carbon Robotics's Electrical Engineering Manager, you will provide technical and business leadership and oversight while also developing and maintaining the infrastructure (organizational structures, tools, training, etc.) the EE team needs to succeed. You will be laser focused on ensuring your team can successfully architect, design, test, and sustain the power management, communications, sensors and actuators, wiring, and compute systems that are the backbone of our robotics systems. You will also coordinate heavily with the Mechanical Engineering team as well as Software Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, and Field Support teams to ensure seamless integration and rapid delivery to market.

This role reports to the Director of Hardware Engineering. You will collaborate with the Engineering leadership team to develop and deliver on capability and product innovation roadmaps. Above all, you'll do whatever it takes, including travel to customer farms and our manufacturing facilities, to ensure our customers have safe and reliable products that meet or exceed their expectations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success :

  • At least 3 years experience managing and growing an electrical engineering team that has developed, deployed, and maintained serially produced complex integrated electrical systems (preferably robots).
  • Significant experience with both PCB and power distribution system design, build, test, and production.
  • Experience with wire harness, external communication, internal networking, environmental sensing (GPS, camera, lidar, radar, ultrasonic, etc.) and electrical actuation systems design, build, test, and production.
  • Experience developing simple firmware code.
  • Capable of operating as a Lead Engineer in your respective expertise area as needed.
  • Extensive experience working with TPMs to manage resources and priorities across multiple projects while maintaining quality and on-time delivery.
  • Experience working with a workflow management tool such as Jira and an internal documentation tool such as Confluence.
  • Ability to develop and mentor (both hard and soft skills) for new grad, early career, and mid-career engineers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a desire to work in multidisciplinary organizations.
  • Ability to travel for field visits to Farms and Richland manufacturing campus.
  • Work ~4 days a week out of our North Lynnwood / South Everett office and ~1 day a week out of our downtown Seattle HQ.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering.

Carbon Robotics follows equitable hiring practices. Flexibility in our hiring process allows hiring of talent at levels different from what are posted. The compensation range outlined is based on a target budgeted base salary. Individual base pay depends on various factors such as relevant experience and skill, Interview assessments and responsibility of role, job duties / requirements. Offers are determined using our equitable hiring practices. Carbon Robotics offers additional compensation in the form of benefits premiums, pre-IPO stock options and On Target Earning commissions for appropriate positions. Base pay ranges are reviewed each year. We are committed to the principle of pay equity - paying employees equitably for similar work.

Carbon Robotics' base salary pay range :

$195,000-$225,000 USD
