POSITION SUMMARY :
Responsible for planning and leading curriculum-based activities with a group of children in a specialty area. Maintains and organizes all equipment / materials for the designated activities to achieve optimum use of resources.
Supervises both campers and staff to ensure a high-level of program quality, engagement, and an excellent camper experience.
Demonstrates the Y's commitment to its core values of respect, responsibility, honesty and caring in all actions to serve as a role model.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
The candidate must possess the ability to follow a curriculum-based activity plan that meets demographics of campers while keeping in mind budgetary constraints.
They must be organized and efficient. They must be able to supervise staff and campers.
- Lead in the development of age-appropriate activity plans according to the camp curriculum in specialty areas including creating a mode / sample or instruction.
- Actively engages all campers and staff in activity, (including being in the pool during designated swim times) planning alternative activities or follow-up activities as needed.
- Support routine tasks of face counts, medications, behaviors, etc.
- Maintain resources and materials to ensure a clean, safe environment.
- Keep materials organized and in good repair throughout the summer.
- Communicate supply and ordering needs in a timely manner to the Camp Director.
- Assist in special program areas and activities including but not limited to : waterfront, pool, nature, camp-wide activities, arts and crafts, ropes, marksmanship, homestead and horses as directed.

- Engage and support counselors and junior counselors, and share necessary information from camp leadership
- Reports to work on time and in uniform for all scheduled shifts, including weekly and / or other designated meetings
- Promotes positive character values in a caring camp environment
- Attend all training and meetings within the designated time frame.
- Drive Y minibus for teen camp field trip purposes as applicable / needed
- All other duties as assigned.
