Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Bristol, TN 37620 (East Tennessee healthcare jobs)

Position : Travel Med / Surg Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit : Medical / Surgical (BR 2E)

Shift : Night Shifts (18 : 30 – 07 : 00)

Schedule : 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts per week (36 or 48 hours / week)

Contract Length : 13 weeks (Start : 11 / 9 / 2025 – End : 2 / 8 / 2026)

Patient Ratio : 1 : 6

Weekend / Holiday Coverage : Every other weekend and rotating holidays

Floating : Required to other hospital units as needed

Orientation : 16 hours (includes online modules)

Estimated Weekly Salary Range : $2020 - $2070

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Tennessee or compact state (required at submission)

Minimum 2 years of recent Medical / Surgical nursing experience

American Heart Association BLS certification (AHA BLS)

Epic charting experience required

Telemetry experience preferred

First-time travel nurses welcome

Must live at least 100 miles from the facility

Flu vaccine required (medical / religious exemptions considered)

Ability to complete drug testing and compliance requirements before start date

Facial hair must comply with CDC fit testing guidelines

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to adult patients on a 23-bed Med / Surg unit (daily census 12-23)

Manage a 1 : 6 nurse-to-patient ratio during night shifts

Float to other hospital units as needed to support patient care

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, and Pharmacy

Perform clinical skills such as IV management, wound care, telemetry monitoring, blood product administration, and care for patients with complex medical and surgical needs

Support nursing students and participate in clinical education initiatives

Comply with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
