Weld Engineer - Gestamp Chassis 3, Chattanooga, TN

Job Summary

Supports manufacturing operations in an automotive / stamping & robotic MIG / MAG welding environment.

Key Responsibility

• Implement process improvements with regards to MIG / MAG Welding systems using all available current welding technologies.
• Maintain welding systems to ensure manufacturing activities are in within specifications and interpret and apply specifications for manufacturability (WPS, TrackIt, VQM)
• Supervision of Weld Technician; supporting / monitoring of their day-to-day activities, T&A / scheduling, as well as training and developing of weld technicians from a MIG / MAG welding perspective.
• Support maintenance activities and PM scheduling of weld technician responsible equipment.
• Collects, tracks, and advises on downtime issues and implements short and long-term solutions to minimize downtime.
• Manage and execute in-house projects for implementing new engineering changes that modify assembly processes.
• Liaise with vendors regarding software / hardware updates and troubleshooting systems.
• Participation in the Layered Process Audit schedule.
• Participation in the Internal ISO / TS 16949 Audit schedule (applies only to certified ISO / TS 16949 internal auditors).
• Participation and cooperation in answering questions and providing information for internal and external audits regarding or related to ISO / TS 16949, VDA 6.3, and customer standards.
• Completes other necessary duties as deemed appropriate and necessary.
