Description
Under the general supervision and direction of the Clinical Manager and Medical Director of Radiation Oncology, Lead Radiation Therapist is responsible for coordinating, directing and supervising the activities of the Radiation Therapy technical staff.
Is responsible for efficient and accurate execution of prescribed treatment plans. Acts as a role model and clinical educator / evaluator for students participating in a radio-therapeutic program.
Assists in localizing tumors, participates in treatment planning and delivering high doses of ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with prescription and instructions from the Radiation Oncologists and under Medical Director of Radiation Oncology.
Participates in quality improvement projects. Reviews treatment and planning charges prior to export and errors in work queue.
Maintains and updates billing knowledge by attending annual conference. Responsible for coordinating equipment maintenance, trouble shooting failures and collaborating with equipment vendor and Biomedical Engineering.
Responsible for scheduling patients initial simulation and treatment for safe therapist coverage of multiple modalities.
Maintains patient schedule. Develops and enters schedule for and edits Therapist time. Participates in interviewing of candidates.
Performs technical skill evaluation of new and current staff. Performs corrective counseling of technical skill as needed.
Contributes to evaluation of new and current staff.

- Serves as a clinical role model and acts as a clinical resource to both Therapists and RNs

- Participates in the selection and orientation of new staff
- Provides feedback to staff and clinical manager regarding staff performance issues
- Other duties as assigned.
- Involvement in clinical department / organization committee(s), task force(s), special project(s), and / or other professional organization(s).
- Demonstrated ability to work well with patients / families, nursing and ancillary staff, and physicians.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have five years minimum experience as a Radiation Therapist II or a minimum of 8 years of continuous employment as a Radiation Therapist.
Must demonstrate leadership skills for problem resolution and the ability to work effectively with a variety of staff on a consistent basis.
Knowledge of Radiation treatment billing codes with modifiers
License / Certifications
Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist in Radiation Therapy or equivalent as recognized by the ARRT.

Salary Range :
$82.46 - $101.04 USD Hourly
