Associate Admissions Counselor
Summary :
Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Associate Admissions Counselor participates in recruitment activities per enrollment goals and plans for the undergraduate program.
Job Description :
- Meets with prospective students, families, school professionals, and vocational rehabilitation counselors; travels to schools as allowed and conducts virtual visits with school groups and individual students;
- manages undergraduate application processing, maintains admissions communication and provides admission counseling to prospective students and families;
and assists students throughout the application process.
Understands admissions requirements in order to provide guidance to prospective students.
Manages the admission and enrollment processes for applicants, and maintains up-to-date records on inquiries and applicants in an enrollment platform called Slate.
Evaluates admission applications to determine whether they met the minimum admission standards and requirements and then recommends candidates for admission.
Serves as a liaison between prospective students and campus units as appropriate.
Visits middle schools and high schools, presents to groups and individual students, and meets with school counselors to promote outreach activities;
coordinates virtual visits with school groups; arranges visits with prospective students and parents; participates in other recruitment activities such as college fairs, open houses, and special events including webinars.
Identifies prospective students with special talents and conducts more intensive, individualized, and personal recruiting and tracking.
Works periodically on weekends and evenings; and travels locally and out of state within the regional territory, and travels to Gallaudet University for required training.
Submits recruitment site visit reports and expense reports in a timely manner.
Remains abreast of developments on campus (e.g., changes in academic programs, services, policies, and procedures) in order to provide accurate information to prospective students and others.
Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers, supervisor, and other employees on campus.
Shows commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace; and participates in workshops to foster continuous learning.
Serves as a mandatory Title IX reporter and takes annual Title IX training as part of the compliance effort.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree.
A minimum of two years of experience working with marketing, recruitment, student services, or a related field (college student work and / or internship experience will be considered).
Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience working in a higher education setting.
