Job Summary :

Ensures the effectiveness and efficiency of shared service health information management (HIM) department operations. Supports strategic direction, leader development, maintenance / review / revision of policies and procedures, staffing, quality assessment / improvement, and ensures compliance with all regulatory bodies. Organizes functions by establishing clear accountabilities, delegation of duties and appropriate departmentalization without creating silos. Develops and maintains an effective, visible, and well-respected team by selecting, evaluating, coaching, and managing the performance of qualified professionals. Negotiates and recruits with other leaders the need for cross training and support in their areas, as necessary. Promotes team-building relationships in all areas of responsibility. Works in a collaborative manner with all revenue cycle leaders to ensure a successful and compliant revenue cycle process. Promotes a culture of two-way communications and creates opportunities for staff participation. Determines appropriate staffing levels and supports the recruiting and retention process. Provides input and direction to strategic plan and goals to meet imperatives Provides vision, leadership and operational oversight for area of responsibility within a specific area. Develops departmental policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with Joint Commission, federal, and state guidelines. Prepares budgets and maintains and manages cost control. Collaborates with departments and medical staff to ensure strategic alignment and objective achievement. Seeks to understand disagreements, ensure all perspectives are heard and facilitate a plan for resolution.

Job Requirements :

Education and Work Experience :

• Bachelor’s Degree in health information management, healthcare administration, business administration or equivalent combination of education / related experience : Required
• Master's Degree : Preferred
• Seven years' HIM operations experience, including Cerner system experience : Preferred
• Epic system experience and EHR conversion experience : Preferred
• Five years' leadership experience : Preferred
