Public Safety Officer
This is a non-civil service position.
Salary range : $43,882.00 - $52,188.00 annually
Job Summary : A Public Safety Officer enforces laws, rules, and regulations, and maintains order at and in the vicinity of departmental buildings and grounds. The work of this class involves no supervisory responsibilities.
Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek; however, may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts. Work is performed indoors and outdoors where there are few uncomfortable working conditions; however, there is occasional exposure to inclement weather. This position is exempt and is deemed essential.

Minimum Qualifications :
Education : Have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience : Have one year of related experience.
Licenses, Registrations and Certificates : A valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management required.

Background Check : Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and / or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
Probation : All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month probation.
Note : Those eligible candidates who are under final consideration for appointment to positions in this class will be required to authorize the release of criminal conviction information.
