They shall independently perform critical tasks in assessing, initiating, monitoring and terminating treatment in an acute hospital setting. • Education Graduate of an approved / accredited nursing program either by a governmental authority, nursing board, or by a licensing authority that has jurisdiction over approval / accreditation of nursing programs (Texas BON 217.1).\n
• Experience One (1) year of acute care dialysis or critical care experience required. Specialty areas may have increased experience requirements as dictated by unit or standard of care.\n
• Licenses and Certifications (RN) REGISTERED NURSE Upon Hire and (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT Upon Hire and (ACLS) ADV CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT Upon Hire\n\nPreferred\n
• Education BSN preferred.\n
• Experience\n\nTwo (2) Years Of Experience Preferred.\n
• Licenses and Certifications Certified Nephrology Nurse Certification preferred. Upon Hire\n\nJob Duties\n
• Responsible for providing the appropriate treatment technique for assigned patients as prescribed in all modality procedures.\n
• Assesses patients? responses to treatment therapy making appropriate adjustments and modifications to the treatment plan as indicated by the appropriately physician. Communicates problems or concerns to appropriately credentialed physician, patient hospital primary nurse and others as necessary.\n
• Responsible for the implementation, administration, monitoring, and documentation of patient's response to prescribed intradialytic transfusions, including appropriate notification of adverse reactions to physician and appropriate transfusion policy.\n
• Collaborates and communicates with physicians and other staff to interpret, adjust, and coordinate patient care plan to ensure continuity of care.\n
• Accurately records all physician orders and treatment information in the individual patient medical record.\n
• Reports any significant patient information to the correct team member(s), including the physician.\n
• Appropriately and accurately completes any required documentation.\n
• Promotes and assists in maintaining a safe and clean working environment in order to maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics.\n
• Cleans and disinfects dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding areas between treatments according to company policies and procedures.\n
• Completes all tasks necessary for the preparation of the dialysis treatment and documents where appropriate.\n
• Performs all required pre-treatment dialysis machine alarm testing, and quality assurance testing.\n
• Prepares, organizes, and efficiently utilizes supplies and equipment to prevent waste.\n
• Operates all hospital equipment appropriately and safely, provides minor trouble-shooting when necessary, and follows hospital emergency procedures when required.\n
