Our client is seeking a full time EHS Specialist supporting the location of Taylor, TX and Pflugerville, TX. This role requires onsite 5 days a week.
The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (EHS) programs to ensure a safe workplace, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation. This senior role reports to executive leadership and collaborates across departments to foster a culture of safety, prevent incidents, and support organizational goals. The position requires strong leadership to manage audits, training, and incident response while staying abreast of evolving regulations like OSHA and EPA standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Policy Development and Compliance
Ensure seamless integration of client-specific standards, on-site tribal knowledge (e.g., critical unwritten insights from long-term personnel or local teams), and culturally or geographically unique safety practices.
Risk Management and Inspections
Recommend corrective actions, equipment upgrades, or process changes to eliminate or minimize risks, including those related to ergonomics, chemical handling, and emergency preparedness.
Training and Education
Incident Investigation and Reporting
Develop preventive measures, maintain detailed records, and prepare reports for regulatory agencies, management, and insurance purposes.
Program Oversight and Metrics
Manage safety committees, coordinate with external auditors, and integrate EHS into business operations to support sustainable growth.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Willingness to travel, physical ability to conduct site inspections, and a commitment to ethical practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Proven track record in high-risk environments (e.g., manufacturing, construction, or consulting) and familiarity with safety management systems like ISO 45001.
