Position Overview
Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer works independently to design the assembly cells, sequences of operations, test processes and test fixtures. Develops and implements manufacturing processes to ensure efficient and quality production. Provides hands-on support for production and repair operations. Verifies manufacturability of products. Works to improve products and reduce costs.
Among the key duties of this position are the following
- Design the small production cell or simple assembly lines to ensure efficient, productive, and flexible layout
- Design the sequence of assembly operations. Specify or design the tools and equipment to support efficient operations and high-quality product.
- Conduct tests and measurements throughout stages of production to determine control over applicable variables. Troubleshoot and solve production process problems with improved processes or equipment.
- Identify and implement changes to improve products or reduce costs, using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
- Use technical skills to validate manufacturability of products.
- Recommend modifications or adaptations to address quality, customer, product, or productivity constraints.
- Act as liaison between internal and external customers (Suppliers and end product buyers) in matters related to technical support required.
- Assist with creation and update of manufacturing and engineering documentation (Bill of Materials, Work Instructions, SOPs, Specifications, Inspections, Engineering Drawings, etc.). Train operators and other staff on required procedures and techniques related to Engineering.

Report any violations or safety concerns to management promptly.Experience And Skills
Knowledge of metallic assembly and fabrication as well test techniques, including hands-on experience with process development, fixture specification / build, component assemblyExpertise in developing manufacturing methods and creating assembly documentation for engineered productsAbility to specify and set up a test fixture and / or work with the board fabrication / assembly vendors to ensure appropriate testing and manufacturing process of componentsExpertise interpreting customer drawings, requirements and specifications to validate test procedures and to facilitate efficient and effective productionFamiliarity with mechanical and assembly drawings and documentation.Physical Demands
Ability to stand and sit for long periods of timeAbility to perform repetitive motion (rotating wrists, keyboarding, using small / large tools)Ability to lift up to 50 poundsAbility to tolerate constant noise (machine motors)Ability to work safely in the presence of hazardous chemicals and hazardous conditionsAbility to follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as requiredVision abilities including close vision and the ability to adjust focusExperience / Education Minimum Requirements
