- The System Director of Lab and Pathology provides effective operational management and leadership of the lab and pathology departments within ARHS. Ensures safe, effective patient care is delivered at all times and all locations. This position is instrumental to the overall functioning of 24 / 7 departments and the health care provided to all patients. Responsible for the clinical and ancillary management of the team. Responsible for adherence to CLIA and all regulatory requirements, hospital policies, procedures and plans.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities :
Ensures the goals of the department are communicated, actionable and achieved : Patient Experience. Drives patient experience perceptions to the targeted organizational goal. Clinical Quality. Achieves and maintains clinical quality metrics at targeted organizational goal. Operational Performance. Ensures operational effectiveness to hit targets for labor management (FTEs and productivity) along with budget revenues and expenses. Collaborative Leadership. Effectively collaborates with other organizational leaders to assure integration of services and effective use of resources.Patient Experience Ensure systems in place to implement and validate tactics to achieve exceptional patient experiences in all clinical areas of operations. Identify service gaps by accurately assessing current experiences of patients and comparing the results to the desired state. Develop system-wide standards to close identified service gaps. Create an environment that demands urgency around resolving patient concerns and rewards service recovery when patient expectations are not met. Proactively seek input from patients to understand and enhance the patient experience. Work with all levels of leadership to build support for improving and maintaining patient experience. Collaborate with leaders, providers and support departments to operationalize patient experience strategy.Quality Develop, lead and direct strategies to improve quality outcomes and advance evidence-based care. Ensure an environment that enables the implementation of evidence-based best practices that are consistent throughout the enterprise and aligned with the organizations quality targets. Implement data collection, measurement, and analysis tools and strategies for structure, process and patient quality outcomes.Operational Performance Manage achievable labor targets for workforce levels, skill mix and utilization (productivity) based on benchmarked data. Communicate and hold leaders accountable to meeting labor management targets including FTE levels and productivity expectations. Develop and implement process improvement strategies to achieve operational efficiency in the delivery of patient care. Ensure budgeted resources are appropriate to deliver quality patient care services. Confirm areas of responsibility operate within targeted budget expenses relative to revenue.Collaborative Leadership Manage patient care practices and department standards to ensure consistent care delivery across hospital operations and outpatient services. Maximize efficiency and utilization of resources (labor, equipment, supplies) between facilities. Ensure that the workforce is led and managed in order to facilitate a highly motivated, empowered workforce and an environment that engenders excellence. Achieve consistent levels of engagement with staff, leaders and providers with regards to leadership strategies and tactics (i.e. Studer). Partner with staff and leaders to explore and implement improvements and innovation in the delivery of services.Demonstrates a commitment to a culture of safety and achieving organizational objectives by adhering to all radiation protection, hazardous waste, infection control, and other safety standards.Accurately documents reflecting compliance with ARHS policies, procedures, protocols, and regulatory standards. Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of Protected Health Information (PHI) used or accessed in the scope of this position.Demonstrates responsible stewardship and resource utilization. Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering care. Contributes to and supports the effective leadership of ARHS.Uses technology to support efficiencies in care delivery. Adheres to attendance policy. Ensures charges are entered timely and accurately.Other Responsibilities Oversee aspects of human resource management including selection, retention, recognition & reward, corrective action and productivity management of human resources. Provide for fiscal management of areas of responsibilities including budget development, monitoring and identifying and executing on expense control initiatives. Assist in promoting and maintaining strong medical staff relations by collaborating and involving provider in clinical and operational decision making. Ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and agencies such as Joint Commission, EMTALA, CAP, and Conditions of Participation. Ensuring Just Culture and one of continuous process improvement. Minimum EducationGraduate of four-year degree program. Masters degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration or comparable combination of education and experience required.#IND123
ExperienceLicensed in North Carolina as a Medical TechnologistFive years or more of progressive leadership experience within a health system or hospital setting required. Demonstrated work experience required in leading a service line including but not limited to : fiscal management, human capital management, strategic planning and development of service lines, overall operational management of multiple clinical areas, and regulatory compliance.Required Registration / License / CertificationBasic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is required at the time of hireJob Type : Full-time
