Montessori International Childrens House (MICH) is an AMI accredited school serving children from 18 months through age 12 that has created an idyllic setting for young learners in its 40-year history. Position Summary

The Primary Montessori Teacher leads a class of 24-28 students ages 2.5-6 in accordance with the philosophy and guidelines of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). The Primary Montessori Teacher works with the Educational Director and the Montessori Assistant to prepare and maintain an orderly, attractive, and joyful environment. Alongside the other adults, they observe and model courteous and respectful behavior and contribute to the warm, supportive, and peaceful atmosphere. The Primary Montessori Teacher directs the students activities academically, spiritually, emotionally, and physically in a prepared Montessori environment that challenges each child to reach their fullest potential per Montessori philosophy, pedagogy, and methods appropriate for the developmental stages.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Curriculum Coordinator and Classroom Administration

• Preparing the Montessori classroom environment to meet the needs, interests, and the developmental stages of the primary child
• Supporting the care and maintenance of the environment, including but not limited to creating and repairing materials, cleaning the environment, refilling supplies, preparing and supervising snacks, washing, and laundering.
• Presenting consistent and individual group lessons to students and supporting each childs direction and success.
• Working with students of varying abilities assigned to the classroom including those with learning exceptionalities
• Meeting regularly with the classroom team (including substitutes and members of the extended day team), and training them as necessary, to best support the children in the community
