We are offering a role for a Patient Access Specialist in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This role will involve interacting with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals within the healthcare industry.
The workplace will be fast-paced and will require the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR). This is a short-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities :
- Accurately register inpatients, outpatients, and ER patients in the EMR
- Validate patient information to ensure accuracy and compliance with healthcare regulations
- Verify insurance coverage details for patients and calculate patient co-insurance, deductibles, and co-pays
- Collect patient co-insurance, deductibles, and co-pays and balance of cash
- Secure authorization for services from insurance companies
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, physicians, nurses, and insurance companies
- Stay updated and compliant with federal and state regulations related to patient registration in acute-care settings
- Monitor and resolve patient inquiries regarding their credit accounts
- Take necessary actions to collect delinquent payments from customers
- Prior experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in patient access or similar role
- Proficiency in the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance policies
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to problem-solve and handle patient concerns in a professional and empathetic manner
- Proficiency in English language, both written and spoken, for effective communication
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in healthcare administration would be an asset
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if required
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Comfortable working with computer systems and databases
