Job descriptionAs a Veterinary Technician in the Cardiology department, you be responsible for the following duties : Solid technical skills and anesthesia knowledge base, sound judgment, and the ability to function both independently and with a team are required Venipuncture; IV catheter placement; medication calculations and administration; digital radiography; patient prep and recovery; epidural administration; anesthesia / sedation monitoring for cardiac diagnostics or interventional procedures Working closely with the internal medicine team Assisting doctors during patient appointments, providing outstanding client communication and education Advocating for the patient, providing exceptional comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients Assisting with advanced cardiac diagnostics, such as : Echocardiograms, Electrocardiograms (ECGs or EKGs), Thoracic radiographs, and Holter monitor placement and instruction for home use Collaborate closely with other veterinary professionals to provide comprehensive patient care. Advocate for the well-being of patients, ensuring they receive appropriate care, treatment and after-care. Other duties as assigned. primarily determined by role and experience level VA : $26 - $30 / hr RVT : $26 - $40 / hr Work schedule : 4 / 10 work week First shift (Day shift) Saturday availability ideal Weekend and holiday flexibility required Basic required qualifications : General understanding and experience with small animal restraint with a focus on cats and dogs High school diploma Calm, professional demeanor. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Reliable time management and problem-solving skills; working efficiently and effectively throughout the hospital. Multi-task various duties and responsibilities in a timely and reliable manner, with appropriate follow-through and accuracy. Understand and follow established hospital processes and procedures (i.e. SOPs) Able to work well independently as well as with a team. Basic understanding of veterinary medical terminology. Experience in Specialty Veterinary Medicine, with a focus on cardiology. Valid and current Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California.
