Minimum Qualifications

Six years of human resources experience; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of human resources experience; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of human resources experience; OR An advanced degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, industrial and organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or a Juris Doctorate plus two years of human resources experience. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION : Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Designation as a Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) will substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties :

• Exercises direct supervision over Human Resources specialist and or analyst.
• Interacts with Appointing Authorities, managers, and supervisors to provide guidance.
• Trains staff, evaluates performance and conducts staff meetings.
• Develops methods to enhance employee morale and growth to endure high standards of work performance.
• Interprets Civil Service rules and Department policy.
• Counsels with managers / supervisors regarding HR matters.
• Provides training for DCFS statewide on HR processes and procedures.
• May conduct very complex or sensitive investigations.

Position-Specific Details :

Appointment Type : Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment

Work Schedule : Typically, work hours are 8 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm, Monday Friday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and is dependent upon the position you are applying for. Some positions require working shifts.

Compensation : This position is eligible for premium pay up to $2.00 per hour.
