The Opportunity :
- This dynamic role is a key member of the Commissioning team, reporting directly to the Commissioning Manager.
- You'll be responsible for leading smaller PV commissioning projects and supporting sales teams with technical expertise.
Responsibilities :
- Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning of PV solar inverters, ensuring project milestones are met.
- Troubleshoot and test solar inverters, Low-Voltage Connection Units (LCUs), and components in the field, using Power Quality Analyzers (PQAs) and oscilloscopes as needed.
- Provide feedback to engineering for potential design improvements.
- Lead field upgrade projects (software and hardware) and explain technical scope to customers.
- Collaborate with customer engineers on EMS / SCADA system communication and parameter setup.
- Develop or modify commissioning procedures for troubleshooting when necessary.
- Train customers on request.
- Research alternative components for field use.
- Coordinate with R&D in China for complex commissioning tasks.
- Oversee contractors on commissioning sites, ensuring daily activity and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) reports are submitted.
- Prepare and submit your own daily activity and JSA reports.
- Contribute to technical proposals by reviewing scope of work and effort levels.
- Perform other tasks to ensure successful commissioning process completion.
Qualifications :
- 7+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in PV systems.
- Experience and comfort using test equipment and hand tools.
- Excellent customer service, problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Commitment to obtaining OSHA 10 and NFPA 70e certifications within 1 year of employment.
Desired Skills :
- Associate's degree in engineering or computer science (preferred).
- Renewable energy industry experience (preferred).
- Power electronics experience (preferred).
- Strong time management and problem-foresight skills.
- Leadership and management qualities.
- Ability to make quick decisions in fast-paced environments.
- Self-starter with strong initiative and excellent communication skills.
- System and product-level thinking.
- Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
