Minimum Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in inventory management or a related field; supplemented by three years of experience in purchasing or logistics and at least one year lead or supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Specific License or Certification Required : Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license; A valid Georgia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) including appropriate endorsement(s) is preferred.
Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities :
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position. The examination will consist of a review of education and experience, accomplished by analysis of the application. Purpose of Classification :
The purpose of this classification is to supervise the storeroom, warehouse, and fixed asset activities at a specified county building or department. This series is distinguished from the Purchasing series by its focus on materials and supplies, the warehousing of supplies and equipment, and release and control of equipment.
Essential Functions :
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Supervises assigned staff : establishes workloads, prioritizes work assignments, evaluates employee performance, provides ongoing training opportunities for staff; interprets and enforces policies and procedures; resolves staff issues and administers disciplinary action as required; develops operating procedures and ensures adherence to inventory control measures; attends bid openings and recommends vendors for selection; supervises warehouse space utilization and distribution systems.
Oversees and performs shipping and receiving activities : stocks, controls inventory, and performs other warehouse duties as required; conducts annual physical inventories of material and equipment; researches the lowest price of merchandise and places orders for depleted stock as needed; approves the distribution of parts, equipment, supplies, and materials; assists with loading and unloading of materials as needed.
Performs various clerical or reporting activities related to inventory management : oversees accountability and inventory of the county's assets from acquisition to disposal; monitors purchase order requisitions; approves invoices for payment and authorizes electronic payment of invoices; generates analytical reports for appropriate management personnel as requested.
