Substance Use Disorder Residential Counselor

Hourly Pay : 23.23

Work Schedule : Every other weekend, 4 : 00 p.m.-12 : 00 a.m., including holidays.

What does a Substance Use Disorder Residential Counselor do?

As a Substance Use Disorder Residential Counselor at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, you will engage in an enriching role dedicated to supporting non-pregnant, pregnant, and postpartum women diagnosed with substance use disorders. Our comprehensive residential program provides gender-specific treatment in a secure and nurturing environment tailored to individual needs. You will adopt a holistic approach to prevention, intervention, and support, promoting the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of residents and their families. In this dynamic position, you will facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, develop personalized treatment plans, and foster a safe atmosphere that encourages recovery.

Requirements for this Substance Use Disorder Residential Counselor - job

To excel as a Substance Use Disorder Residential Counselor at Hampton-Newport News Community Services Board, candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Human Services, such as Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling, along with one year of relevant experience in a residential or clinical setting. A solid understanding of trauma-informed care principles and gender-responsive treatment approaches is essential for providing effective and compassionate support. Success in this role requires strong communication skills to build rapport with residents and collaborate effectively with colleagues.

Empathy and problem-solving abilities are crucial for addressing the diverse challenges faced by individuals in recovery. Additionally, candidates must hold a valid Virginia Driver's License, ensuring that they can engage with the community and assist residents as needed. Knowledge and skills required for the position are :
