Job Summary
We are seeking a professional and skilled Driver to join our team. In this role, you will for safely and orderly transport students with on assigned routes. Operate a school van / passenger vehicle that transports students to and from schools or designated locations. The ideal candidate is highly organized with the ability to multi-task, has clean driving record and clean Background and work well under pressure. This position requires early mornings, someone who is dependable and safe on the road.
Responsibilities :
Receive and process transportation requests from dispatchPick up and drop off at safely at designated locationsPrioritize calls and transportation needs according to the level of time and urgencyOperate vehicle according to all safety standards and in accordance with state lawFollow assigned route and adhere to established schedulesDrive van to and from extracurricular activitiesCheck van for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify supervisor of needed repairsReport all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, mechanical failure, and complete required reportsKeep records on van mileage, gas and oil consumption, and number of passengers transportedKeep assigned van clean and fueledLearn and adapt to each students special medical, physical, communicative, and emotional needsSupervise students as they board and leave van and cross streetCommunicate with teachers and caregivers on a daily basis regarding student behavior while on busMaintain discipline and report student discipline problems to appropriate administratorInstruct students on safe riding rules and regulationsEnsure safety by engaging in pre-trip review / inspect any vehicle prior to drivingObserve all traffic laws and safety regulations for school busesEnsure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crow bar, and reflectorsCorrect unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not immediately correctable.Report any hazardous conditions along scheduled routes.Work irregular hours as needed (Mon - Fri Only).Attend and complete required training program to maintain certification status.Must be able to safely and effectively operate equipment used including, but not limited to school transportation van, locks, seatbelts, harnesses, car seats, special adaptive equipment, safety equipment (flares, reflective signs), fire extinguisher.Qualifications
High school diploma / GEDPrevious experience driving experience of 5 year or more preferred.Excellent user of smart phoneAbility to use GPSUnderstanding of best practices and procedures for emergency response situationsStrong verbal and written communication skillsHighly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize projectsAbility to work well under pressureMust have knowledge of local geography and transportation routes (Must know the state of CT well).Computer SkillsAbility to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situationsValid driver's license and clean driving recordAbility to pass a background check and drug testAvailability to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as neededInnovative
