Parks Maintenance
The City of Glendale (AZ) is hiring for a Parks Maintenance position with a salary range of $49,441.60 - $74,172.80 annually. This full-time job is located in Glendale, AZ within the Parks and Recreation Department. The role involves operating heavy construction equipment and performing construction, inspection, maintenance, and repair work.
The City of Glendale offers a generous benefits package with competitive rates that become effective on the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment. Regular status positions offer 10.5 holidays per year, vacation leave that accrues at 5.33 hours per pay period and increases with service, and sick leave that accrues at 4.4 hours per pay period. This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) with a current contribution rate of 12%.

Essential Functions
- Inspects playground equipment for hazard identification and safety compliance.
- Documents any damage to playground equipment and determines procedure to bring equipment into compliance.
- Interfaces with playground equipment manufacture to order replacement parts and / or replace sections of equipment.
- Assembles and installs bike racks, benches, tables, signage and gates.
- Performs welding repair and fabrication on various parks and recreation equipment.
- Repairs drinking fountains; replaces or rebuilds valves, water lines, and other parts; unclogs drains.
- Operates power tools to repair equipment.
- Operates heavy construction equipment including front-end loader, backhoe, and trencher.
- Sets up preventative maintenance schedule on playground equipment.
- Performs minor repair and routine maintenance on the equipment such as cleaning, fueling, maintaining tire pressure, and inspecting engine, transmission, steering, brakes, and hydraulic system.
- Keeps daily log on work done.
- Pours concrete and finishes concrete.
- Installs and / or repairs chain link fence and poles.
- Installs and repairs playground equipment.
- Digs holes for trees and assists in planting.
- Operates city vehicles which require a Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications / Special Requirements / Success Factors
Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction equipment and a minimum of one year in fence installation and repair and one year of concrete work. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.

Certification on the National Playground Safety Institute's Certified Playground Safety Inspectors' Course and Examination within 9 months of hire.Class B Commercial driver's license within 6 months of hire.This position is classified as safety-sensitive which requires candidates to successfully undergo drug and alcohol testing prior to employment. They will be subject to further drug and alcohol testing throughout their period of employment in accordance with the City of Glendale Substance Abuse policy. A post-offer physical assessment is required.Physical Requirements / Working Conditions :
Requires climbing up into equipment, bending, stooping, crawling, and lifting of up to 75 pounds. Enters, exits, and operates city vehicles which require a Commercial Drivers License (CDL). Requires working in heavy traffic, exposure to dust, hot weather, hazardous materials and driving on uneven and rough surfaces.
