About the job :

Advantra is partnering with an early-stage AI ad tech startup in San Francisco to hire a Founding Software Engineer (Data / ML) to build and scale the data and ML infrastructure for a high-performance AI-native ad network.

About the role :

You will own the platform and data systems powering ad delivery, analytics, and ML features. You will optimize performance, reliability, and observability, and help the team scale data pipelines and predictive systems.

Responsibilities :

• Build and maintain real-time data pipelines from PostgreSQL to analytics databases.
• Optimize SQL queries, retry mechanisms, and service timeouts to reduce latency.
• Analyze impression and click data to tune ad matching algorithms.
• Develop predictive features for ad matching using regression and ML techniques.
• Implement monitoring, observability, and experiment tracking for data and ML systems.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate data insights into features.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and improve reliability across the platform.
• Own end-to-end system performance, from ingestion to analytics and ML inference.
• Document and maintain robust processes for data and ML workflows.
