Job Description

Overview of the Video Content Manager role

As the Video Content Manager, you will own the creation of video-focused cooking and lifestyle content from concept to post-production, shooting and editing for a variety of marketing channels including the website, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and more. The video content manager is adept at tailoring style and technique by marketing channel and by project, from HiFi and high-profile collaboration launches to LoFi hands-in-pans product demos and social-first reels designed to capture attention and garner engagement.

You'll work closely with the brand content director to create a winning video strategy, then work collaboratively with test kitchen, photo, content and merchant teams to create that content -whether in our San Francisco test kitchen, Richmond photo studio, a local retail store or occasionally on location.

You'll be hands-on every step of the way, including concepting, storyboarding, shooting, editing, post-production, file management and overall project management to build brand awareness, enhance customer experience, and drive engagement for Williams Sonoma.

Responsibilities

  • Help craft and drive our overall video marketing strategy, including development of style and lighting guides, shoot storyboards, shot lists, processes and more
  • Shoot original, compelling, and creative video content tailored for a variety of platforms, including our website, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
  • Transform the Williams Sonoma Test Kitchen into a veritable video production studio for shooting cooking videos, product demonstrations, and more
  • Operate Canon cinema cameras for on-set and on-location shoots, ensuring professional image quality and consistency
  • Set up and operate professional lighting equipment for small to medium-sized sets or locations, adapting for both lo-fi and professional shoots
  • Record and manage on-set audio using professional field recorders, portable mic systems, and other audio capture equipment
  • Edit assembled rough cuts and fine cuts using Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Da Vinci Resolve, or other professional editing software
  • Perform color correction and grading to ensure professional-quality footage that aligns visually with Williams Sonoma's photography standards
  • For smaller shoots, shoot and edit content in one of Williams Sonoma's photo studios or in the WS Test Kitchen
  • For larger shoots, bring a production team together to shoot under the direction of an art director and manage external post-production partners and review process
  • Capture lo-fi content using iPhone when needed, utilizing the Blackmagic Cam mobile app for manual control, overlays, and optimized format shooting
  • Improve and document media workflows
  • Log and organize media in Williams Sonoma's media asset management system
  • Create animation, GIFs, and motion graphic elements as needed
  • Perform color correction, sound design, and packaging of final videos
  • Provide editorial and creative input on videos produced by colleagues and freelancers
  • Create animated gifs, and other assets for social media and publicity
  • Work cross-functionally with the WS Photo team at the Richmond Studio, the social manager on the content team, site designers, and art directors on set to ensure production needs are met
  • Must be comfortable shooting independently on set, collaborating closely with art directors and producers, while directing on-set crew as needed

Criteria

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a video editor and / or filmmaker
  • Skilled at editing various video formats and styles, including shorts and host work
  • Experience shooting high-quality video and recording audio for video productions
  • Proficient in operating professional cinema cameras, ideally Canon systems
  • Skilled in setting up and operating professional lighting equipment for small to medium-sized sets and on-location shoots
  • Skilled in basic audio recording techniques and use of external field recorders and portable mic systems
  • Comfortable shooting with iPhone for lo-fi content and using the Blackmagic Cam mobile app for manual camera control and framing overlays
  • Skilled in color correction and grading using Adobe Creative Suite applications (Premiere, After Effects) or Final Cut Pro
  • Experience creating video content for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube-and an appreciation for what differentiates them
  • Experience with shoppable video platforms (such as Firework, Vimeo etc) a plus
  • Ability to perform work onsite in the San Francisco office full-time pending state, local, and Company return-to-work guidance during and after the COVID-19 pandemic
