Aquinas Consulting has an immediate need to fill a Quality Assurance Leader job at a growing manufacturer of chemicals used in the food flavors / fragrance industry in the Middletown, NY area. This is a leadership role which will become a QA Manager role after training in industry specifics. Thorough training and growth in the industry will be provided.

Quality Assurance Leader (QA)

The QA Leader will be trained to oversee the SQF Practitioner and management of the Food Safety System. Along with senior management, they will help make available all necessary resources (labor, capital improvements, equipment, supplies, etc.), to ensure the production of safe, legal food products while maintaining the SQF System.

QA job responsibilities that this Leader will be expected to learn and develop knowledge of include :

• Maintain knowledge of the SQF System and the current version.
• Maintain updates on industry regulatory standards and trends.
• Responsible to wear hairnet, beard guard (if applicable) and safety glasses in all GMP areas
• Help lead and develop the Food Safety Plan required to conform to food safety regulations and customer requirements.
• Help delegate ownership of programs as required.
• Help lead, develop, and maintain the food safety fundamentals (pre-requisite programs).
• Take appropriate action when necessary to ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the Food Safety Management System (SQF) is maintained.
• Help communicate all essential information in relationship to food safety, food quality and customer satisfaction.
• Responsible to ensure all employees are trained to fulfill the training requirements outlined in FSMS.
• Responsible for overall documentation retention and organization of such.
• Have and maintain knowledge of FSMA compliance regulations.
• Ensure all document versions are correct and in use
• Active member of the HACCP Team and Crisis Management Team.
• Responsible to comply with all GMPs.
• Implement and maintain HACCP based food plans, monitors CCP
• Have a working knowledge of FSMA regulations and updates, may be a PCQI
• Responsible to fulfill the training requirements of the facility staff
• Responsible for all third-party audits and walkthroughs, internal auditing
• Validate all programs
• Ensures Document Control Register is up to date and all documents are in the correct version.
• Ensures all monthly internal audits are performed and the program reviews are completed in the months they are scheduled.
• Signs off and verifies completion of all FSQ documents.
• Ensure full management commitment. Conduct manager meetings and document meeting minutes.
• Other duties as needed
