Ash & Harris Executive Search is looking for an Estate Administration Paralegal
Overview :
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced paralegal to join their trusts and estates legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate and trust administration, with the ability to manage all aspects of the process from probate to final distribution. This role is based out of either the Smithtown, NY or Melville, NY office.
Key Responsibilities :
- Prepare and file probate and administration petitions with the Surrogate's Court.
- Collect, inventory, and value estate assets, obtaining date-of-death valuations.
- Draft legal documents, including inventories, accountings, receipts, releases, and consents.
- Communicate with clients, financial institutions, and government agencies.
- Monitor deadlines and maintain calendars for multiple estate administrations.
- Prepare federal (Form 706) and state estate tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns (Form 1041) in coordination with CPAs.
- Review and reconcile estate bank accounts and prepare informal accountings.
- Assist with trust funding, trust administration, and post-mortem planning.
Requirements :
Education : Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred.Experiences : Minimum of 3+ years of direct experience as a Trusts & Estates or Estate Administration paralegal.Other :Must have prior experience with estate administration planning.Must reside close to the Smithtown or Melville, NY office.Knowledge of probate procedures and Surrogate’s Court rules.Familiarity with estate and fiduciary income tax returns.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational skills and acute attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software.Compensation and Benefits :
Salary : $70,000 - $90,000Benefits : Comprehensive benefits packageSchedule :
