Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level III NICU night shift position in Washington, DC, requiring a DC RN license and at least three years of recent NICU experience.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • Care for neonates from 23 weeks gestation up to 4 months old
  • Typical conditions treated include extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, hypoglycemia, congenital anomalies, seizures, and meconium aspiration syndrome
  • Perform advanced NICU procedures including ventilation management, use of oscillators, pressors, and care of micro preemies
  • Provide services such as nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation, high frequency oscillation, and nitric oxide therapy
  • Assist with bedside procedures including IV insertion, septic workups, intubations, and percutaneous catheter insertions
  • 12-hour night shifts, 7 : 00 pm to 7 : 00 am, three shifts per week
  • Respond to neonatal emergencies, provide immediate assessment and care for newborns, and attend all C-sections and high-risk deliveries
  • Most diagnostic services are performed at bedside
  • Provide parent teaching as part of discharge preparation
  • References from two managers or supervisors verifying recent experience preferred
  • First-time travelers are eligible for consideration

    • Requirements

  • Active and unencumbered DC RN license required at time of consideration
  • Three years or more of NICU experience required
  • AHA BLS, NRP, STABLE certifications required
  • CPI certification mandated by position
  • At least two years of recent hospital-based experience in NICU in the United States
  • Must reside at least 25 miles from the facility
  • U.S. Social Security Number required
