Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

ATC Automation is seeking a hands-on and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical development of custom automation machinery and tooling systems at our Simi Valley, CA location. Remote opportunities would be considered for highly qualified candidates with occasional travel required to the Simi Valley, CA location. Projects will vary in scale and complexity, ranging from rapid R&D efforts to fully integrated, high-throughput production equipment. You'll work directly with customers to define requirements and collaborate with a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver robust, high-performance automation solutions.  With a competitive salary ranging from $120,000 to $140,000 annually, this role not only rewards your skills but also encourages personal and professional growth.

How You Will Make a Difference :

• Lead the mechanical design of systems, mechanisms, and components for custom automated machinery and tools
• Develop and enforce best practices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives in mechanical design
• Integrate off-the-shelf and custom automation components, including robotics, actuators, sensors, and vision systems
• Deliver projects on time and within budget; coordinate project status with Project Managers and cross-functional stakeholders
• Generate accurate 3D CAD models and fully detailed 2D drawings for manufacturing and assembly
• Mentor and train junior engineers, including reviewing and approving their work for accuracy and quality
• Support the build and commissioning of equipment, providing hands-on assistance and guidance to the production team
• Build and test mechanical prototypes when necessary to validate concepts before full-scale deployment
• Collaborate with controls and software teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electronic subsystems
• Manage and communicate with external suppliers to ensure component quality, lead time, and compatibility
• Work closely with customers to refine requirements, align design intent, and ensure functional success
• Support onsite equipment deployment, installation, and troubleshooting as required
