Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

ATC Automation is seeking a hands-on and innovative Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical development of custom automation machinery and tooling systems at our Simi Valley, CA location. These may vary from small R&D tasks to large scale production equipment. The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will work with customers to define the needs and specifications for their projects. These projects will generally be interdisciplinary, and the engineer will work with other members of the team to deliver an integrated and functional solution. Responsibilities :

• Lead the design of systems, mechanisms, and components for custom automated machinery and tools
• Continually develop, improve, and drive best practices and standards
• Integrate off-the-shelf and custom robotics, actuation, sensors, vision systems, and other automation peripherals
• Meet project budgets and schedules and coordinate progress with project managers and other project stakeholders
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of designs.
• Provide training and mentorship to other Engineers including reviewing and approving their work.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to the production team during the build and commissioning of your machines.
• When necessary, validate designs prior to final design by building and testing prototypes
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams on controls and software integration
• Coordinate with and manage external suppliers
• Coordinate with customers to refine requirements and align on project requirements
• Support equipment deployment at customer sites as needed
