Director, Chief of Staff (International Workforce Planning)

The ideal candidate will have an exceptional track record of building strong business partnerships, demonstrated success in critical thinking and problem solving, experience with complex analysis, and ability to balance critical priorities across a wide range of responsibilities. The Chief of Staff should have experience in developing executive-ready presentations and telling a compelling story through data.

General Responsibilities :

As the Director, Chief of Staff (International Workforce Planning), you will be a strategic leader responsible for defining and executing our global workforce strategy. You will lead a high-performing team of Workforce Planning Leads, partnering closely with our Technology and Product organizations to develop robust annual and long-term demand and supply plans that ensure we meet our ambitious growth objectives. This role requires a blend of strategic vision, analytical rigor, and exceptional leadership. You will leverage data and insights to forecast talent needs, identify skill gaps, and develop proactive solutions to optimize our international workforce. You will also drive the implementation of workforce planning methodologies and technologies to enhance efficiency and decision-making.

The Successful Candidate Will :

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive annual and long-term international workforce plans, aligning with Capital One's Technology and Product strategies.
  • Build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. You will foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results
  • Partner with Technology and Product leadership to accurately forecast future talent demand, considering factors such as product roadmaps, market trends, and organizational growth.
  • Analyze internal and external talent supply to identify potential gaps and opportunities. In partnership with key stakeholders, lead the development and implementation of short and long term strategic programs for the organization.
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders across Technology, Product, HR, and Finance to ensure integrated planning and effective execution of workforce strategies.
  • Deeply understand prioritization and delivery roadmap, helping to identify cross-tower dependencies to proactively manage impediments.
  • Work to influence matrixed stakeholder teams to move the organization forward in a well-integrated manner.
  • Lead the effort to drive organizational processes that enable success.
  • Partner with communications resources to enhance our organizational brand, highlighting the impact of our strategic initiatives.
  • As new projects arise, work with leadership to determine feasibility, project and implementation plan.
  • Champion unpopular ideas, even with more senior leaders.
  • Able to get up to speed quickly on key topics and navigate the organization.
  • Drive organizational change and operational excellence.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor with stakeholders and leaders across the enterprise.
  • Regularly use strong business judgment, influencing skills, leadership and integrity.
  • Inspire an organization of open-exchange and collaboration.
  • Leverage strong facilitation, negotiation and mediation skills.
  • Employ both meticulous organizational skills and follow-through.
  • Work with little direction on complicated, sensitive assignments.

Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 7 years of experience in Project Management, Process Management, or Program Management
  • At least 5 years of people management experience
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • 5+ years of experience in strategy development
  • 5+ years of experience in budgeting and labor strategy
  • 6+ years of experience driving organizational change and operational excellence
  • 3+ years of experience partnering with engineering and product teams

    The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

    Locations :

  • McLean, VA : $226,000 - $257,900
  • New York, NY : $246,500 - $281,300
  • Richmond, VA : $205,400 - $234,400
  • Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

    This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and / or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
