Position Overview
The Associate Director on PINE's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Services team provides fractional CFO support and leads the administration of hedge and private equity funds, as well as asset manager relationships. This role oversees financial and accounting functions with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and client partnership. Responsibilities
Nurturing multiple client relationships
Review the monthly / quarterly calculation of hedge fund / private equity fund NAVs as prepared by the administrator.
Track, process, review and approve fund expenses
Review partner allocations and waterfall schedules
Review fee calculations including, but not limited to, management fees, professional fees, and performance fees
Review capital activity including capital calls, distributions, and transfers
Coordinating and managing the external audit and tax process on behalf of multiple clients
Manage the preparation and issuance of audited financial statements
Review and approve annual K-1s for private funds and tax returns
Oversight of client's management company books and records including payroll processing, accounts payable and receivable, general bookkeeping and invoicing, 1099 prep, and annual budgeting
Experience with different asset classes including fixed income, public and private equities, and derivatives
Work closely with colleagues across engagements, providing insights and support to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and client satisfaction. Clients rely on us to act as trusted experts in fund operations and accounting oversight. The successful candidate will confidently review and challenge fund administrator work to ensure accuracy, GAAP compliance, and timeliness.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively, considering individual team members' strengths, skills, and development needs.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting open communication, trust, and cooperation among team members
Identify training and development needs within the team and coordinate appropriate learning opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Spearhead the development and implementation of streamlined processes and procedures within the CFO Services department, aimed at enhancing efficiency, reducing operational costs, and improving overall service delivery.
Establish best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality in service delivery, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Utilize data‑driven insights and performance metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of implemented processes, making necessary adjustments and refinements to drive ongoing scalability and sustainability.
Proactively anticipate future business needs and growth opportunities, recommending strategic enhancements to existing processes and procedures to support long‑term business objectives and expansion initiatives.
Qualifications
6‑12 years of financial services experience (Accounting / Audit / Administration / Hedge funds / Private Equity Funds)
Must have experience with private equity funds or hedge funds and be able to review NAV calculations, management fees / incentive fees / carry calculations and year end financial statements
The ideal candidate should possess strong accounting knowledge and technical expertise, with the ability to interpret complex transactions and apply U.S. GAAP and industry‑specific guidance to private funds.
Proven experience in financial statement preparation and review, with a deep understanding of fair value measurements, consolidation considerations, and investor allocations.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are essential
Previous asset management or pooled vehicle experience
Demonstrated ability to identify risks and control gaps in processes and successfully delivering process improvement
Passion for delivering an exceptional client experience
Understanding of private fund offering docs and the intricacies of private equity vehicles
Strong organizational skills with attention to deadlines
Proficient in the use of MS Office : strong knowledge of Excel and Word required
Proficient in QuickBooks
Ability to multi‑task and a willingness to accept any task that will benefit a growing organization
Team player with a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
Salary Range
$80,000 – 120,000
Work Model (Remote / Hybrid)
Candidates located in the Denver area who are able to follow a hybrid schedule working from our Denver office 3 days each week are preferred.
Open to hiring remote employees located in the US with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
Some periodic travel to Denver will be expected for remote employees.
