Occupational Safety Program Management
Creates, manages, maintains, and improves occupational safety programs for Utilities and Energy Management. Coordinates with EHS on UEM needs to include incident response. Represents UEM in all campus-wide safety program efforts and updates UEM leadership with changes to existing programs or new initiatives from EHS.
Conducts periodic safety and health walk-through inspections and assesses hazardous conditions for UEM spaces, reviews departmental incident reports, and performs incident investigations for causal factors. Performs periodic audits of the various programs, including but not limited to lockout / tagout, confined space entry, walking / working surfaces, and fall protection. Assist with cause analysis for operational events as assigned.
Collect and manage a variety of incident related data, run metrics on trends, and distribute relevant information to UEM leadership. Develop tools / programs to leverage historical data to change trajectory of UEM safety and influence safety culture.
Maintain the workplace safety team and serve as Technical Management advisor to safety committees. Coordinate and attend safety and training meetings for all department sections. Serve as liaison and coordinate with appropriate personnel on safety issues involving other departments.
Provide leadership, initiative, direction, guidance and long term planning on occupational safety and health by evaluating practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk. Implement best practices and ensure effective allocation and use of related resources. Develops and implements innovative departmental metrics and goals that drive improvements in safety. Coordinate and conduct occupational safety and health training and new employee and contractor safety orientation training.
