Position : LEAD COUNSELOR
You will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following, under the direction of the Center Administrator : managing the Program staff, providing counseling care and education directly to clients, and promoting a climate for effective performance and learning. Encouragement is given to continue to seek experience and training to enhance effectiveness with those served.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
A. PERSONNEL AND STAFFING
Recruit adequate staff for each program need in cooperation with the ARC HR coordinator, and in accordance with ARC and TSA policiesRecruit, train, and utilize community volunteers appropriately and effectivelyHold weekly program meetings to assure communication and team supportB. INTAKE OPERATIONS
Ensure intake operations are developed and operated with ARC standardsEnsure all paperwork and data entry is performed as dictated by ARCC and conform with local requirementsC. CURRICULUM
Ensure curriculum is compliant with ARC standardsEnsure appropriate teaching objectives and outlines are utilizedEnsure appropriate teachers are recruited for all classesEnsure one-on-one counseling (minimum bi-weekly) and group process counseling (weekly) is doneD. INTERN PROGRAM
Network with local colleges and universities to recruit internsAdequately train internsSupervise and / or arrange supervision of internsAssign counseling and teaching assignments to each internE. COUNSELING
Assist beneficiaries to understand and overcome social and emotional problems through individual and process group counselingKeep beneficiary files current with proper documentation of counseling and class activitiesDevelop individual Rehabilitation Plans for beneficiaries seen in counselingAssist assigned beneficiaries in preparation for 3 and 5-month reviewsConduct Christian education classes as assignedLead other groups or classesTeach classes in the program's educational componentAttend weekly Case Conference and provide inputProvide and maintain counseling statistics for monthly Program reportsDocument and maintain appropriate Progress Notes in beneficiary filesAssess spiritual needs and make referrals to Chaplain as neededAttend at least one Wednesday night chapel service each monthServe as back-up to other counselors as neededSupport other staff of the Program Department as ableMonitor overtime; all overtime must be approved by Administrator or designeeF. OTHER DUTIES
Cooperate with the Administrator to mutually develop the most successful programEnsure program department remains compliant with ARCC review standardsTravel to events in the area and territoryPerform other duties as assigned by the ARC AdministratorQUALIFICATIONS
Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor or Bachelor2s degree plus 3 years work / volunteer experience in the substance abuse field1-year experience teaching or presenting material pertaining to Rehabilitation from addictionValid Driver's License and Clean MVRKnowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access) with ability to learn additional softwareAge 21 or aboveExcellent organizational skills with attention to detailAbility to make critical decisions and work with minimal supervisionAbility to track multiple tasks efficiently and complete them professionally and timelyProfessional judgment and integrity in maintaining confidentialityCommitment to the philosophy and goals of The Salvation Army ARC ProgramActive Christian worldviewIf in recovery, must have 3 years of continuous sobrietyNo evidence of existing chemical dependencyPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, climb, or twist as neededAbility to grasp, push, pull office equipmentAbility to communicate clearly on the telephoneAbility to lift up to 30 lbsAbility to perform various repetitive motion tasksEducation & Experience
Education : High School or Equivalent (required); Bachelors (required)
Experience : Valid Driver's License and Clean MVR (required); 1 year : Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (required); 1 year : Teaching or presenting material pertaining to rehabilitation from addiction (required); 3 years : Experience in the substance abuse field (required)
