Student Hourly Office Assistant

Position OverviewThe receptionist position is the first point of contact for the EECS department. This position requires various skills and includes a range of duties. Multi-tasking is key. Assistance to faculty and staff, as well as guidance to students, during the office hours of 8 : 00 am to 4 : 30 pm.Job Description50% Administrative duties such as answering emails and phones.

40% Providing support and answering questions related to the department.

5% Photocopying, filing, and completing data entry as assigned by staff or faculty. Sorts and distributes mail.

5% Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Required Qualifications

Have general knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, as evidenced in application materials.

• Not seeking a degree within the EECS department.
• Available to work 10-20 hours per week.

Preferred Qualifications

Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must : (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA / GTA / GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly / non-exempt position.
