Temporary Laborer - Golf

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking self-motivated, energetic, responsible individuals interested in temporary employment providing basic customer service at a one of the City-owned golf pro-shop facilities and completing general cleanup of golf equipment. Seasonal positions are up to 40 hours a week, in support of the Golf Tournament Season.

Essential Job Functions :

• Provide excellent customer service by representing the City in a professional manner
• Handle customer transactions, including tee time reservations and grouping players
• Assist with timely opening, closing, and securing facilities, such as pro shop, restrooms, cart building
• Assist with moving golf carts from the storage facility to the customer staging area and return golf carts to the storage facility after use
• Clean golf facilities to provide for neat, safe, and secure workplace
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop flooring of facilities
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms
• Observe safety principles and work in a safe manner
• Perform other duties as required or assigned

Working Conditions :

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when operating assigned equipment. Acute hearing is required on the golf courses and in the pro shops. The ability to work in inclement weather conditions, such as wet, heat, and cold. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.

Minimum Qualifications :

License / Certificate : Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license and a safe driving record, or the ability to provide alternate transportation which is approved by the appointing authority.

Selection Process : Applications will be competitively screened based on the minimum qualifications of this position. Based upon a review of the application materials, qualified candidate applications will be forwarded to the hiring department for review.
