Tech Specialist / Irrigation

The Tech Specialist / Irrigation is a full-time position with Shea Properties (Shea), D / B / A Tech Center Maintenance (TCM), responsible for assisting assistant managers and supervisors in coordinating projects, the execution, and delivery of high-quality services associated with Irrigation maintenance activities and special projects within the assigned portfolio. The Tech Specialist is expected to provide leadership, maintain a positive attitude and ensure that a safe and fun work environment is promoted. The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00 / hour and the Tech Specialist / Irrigation is also eligible to participate in the snow incentive program and discretionary annual bonus plan. Job Duties

• Contribute to the overall safety, cleanliness and beauty of properties maintained by Tech Center Maintenance primarily but not exclusively through the skills of landscape irrigation maintenance and repair.
• Full participation in daily irrigation operations to include but not limited to inspection, diagnostic, repair, scheduling and proper operation of assigned irrigation systems.
• Regular system checks for proper operation and distribution. Regular adjustments or recommendation of adjustment to schedule to ensure adequate water without waste.
• Work with Assistant Manager or Supervisor in monitoring maintenance, labor and project costs as well as customer invoicing.
• Work with Assistant Manager or Supervisor with preparation of new maintenance and special project proposals including project planning and labor and material estimates.
• Procurement of irrigation materials for repairs, replacement, or special projects.
• Participate as needed, in all general ground maintenance, including snow removal, special projects, annual flower planning and bed design, bed preparation and annual planting. Perform other assigned duties and projects assigned.

Work Environment

The Tech Specialist / Irrigation work schedule varies depending on weather. Hours are normally from 7 : 00 a.m. to 3 : 30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The position is required to work weekends (Sat / Sun) or late at night if there are Irrigation emergencies or heavy snow fall. However, the Tech Specialist / Irrigation should be flexible and on call depending on the needs of the customers.

Work is primarily performed in a field setting, on diverse grounds surrounding apartment units, office, industrial and retail space environments and occasionally performed in an office environment. With regular exposure to heavy vehicle traffic conditions, frequent street-traffic and equipment noise, working with / near moving motorized equipment and hand-tools, mechanical parts, chemicals and airborne particles. Will work in all weather conditions, with constant interruptions, risk of electrical shock and potentially explosive gases. The incumbent will be exposed to wet, humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and work with various landscape materials including, yet not limited to the following dirt, sod, concrete, and wood materials, in earth-trenches and tight enclosed environments.

Physical Requirements

This position requires strenuous and physical work-activity requiring regular lifting and / or moving objects up to 50 pounds. Work requires employees to regularly sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, lift, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, and use hands and fingers to a significant degree. The employee is required to be proficient in speaking to customers, and have flexible and adaptable vision, including close, peripheral, depth-perception and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to operate company vehicles during the course of duties.
