Position Summary
We are seeking a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant to work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. In this role, you will assist patients who are recovering from illness, injury, or disability by implementing treatment plans that support independence in daily living activities and functional mobility within the home environment.
Occupational Therapy Assistant Job Responsibilities
Provides occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
Assists in identifying patient care needs and contributing to individualized treatment plans
Implements therapeutic interventions focused on activities of daily living (ADLs), functional mobility, and safety
Assesses patient status through observation, patient interviews, and review of therapy history
Carries out treatment plans as established by the supervising Occupational Therapist
Educates patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, adaptive techniques, and use of assistive devices
Assists patients with adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to promote safety and independence
Documents patient care services accurately and timely in patient and department records
Maintains a safe, clean, and compliant work environment in accordance with infection control policies
Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards
Participates in ongoing education and professional development opportunities
Demonstrates flexibility, professionalism, and accountability while supporting team goals
Occupational Therapy Assistant Qualifications / Skills
Knowledge of occupational therapy principles and interventions
Strong patient care and communication skills
Ability to motivate and educate patients and caregivers
Time management and organizational skills
Documentation and EMR proficiency ALORA Plus preferred
Compassionate bedside manner
Ability to work independently in a home health setting
Education and Experience Requirements
Associate degree from an ACOTE-accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Current Florida OTA license
NBCOT certification preferred/required per state regulations
Home health experience preferred but not required
