About this position
This position works within the Fiscal Department of the organization’s Child Care Services program. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, work both independently and collaboratively within a small, close-knit team, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
We are looking for someone with an upbeat, positive attitude who is eager to support the organization’s mission and achieve its strategic goals.
What you’ll be doing
- Assisting the fiscal manager and fiscal department supervisor by performing bookkeeping functions, including : providing payment processing, parent fee billing, parent fee reconciliation, and other bookkeeping tasks;
- Performing secretarial functions, including : typing, filing, mailing, data entry and telephone communication;
- Assisting the fiscal manager and fiscal department supervisor in preparation and disbursement of all reports as needed :
- Assisting the fiscal manager and fiscal department supervisor with training and mentoring new fiscal assistants;
- Handling receptionist responsibilities or errands as needed;
- Reviewing and calculating provider payments from attendance and provider payment request sheets, using 10-key adding machine;
- Maintaining accurate provider payments projections;
- Assisting parents and providers with questions regarding attendance and provider payment request sheets, and child care payments;
- Reading and implementing all organization and program policies and procedures;
- Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation on a timely basis, according to organization policies and procedures;
- Assisting the coordinators and division administrator as needed;
- Performing other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table
- Two years basic bookkeeping or accounting experience;
- Ability to work well with people, with particular sensitivity to needs of children and families;
- Type thirty words per minute accurately;
- Telephone answering skills;
- Basic computer skills;
- Ability to correctly and effectively communicate in written and oral English;
- A California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile and automobile liability insurance.
- Command of Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin or Vietnamese (preferred);
- Associate's degree in accounting or related field (preferred).

Job specifications
- Reports to the fiscal manager and fiscal department supervisor;
- Full-time, twelve-month work year;
- Eight-hour workday; Four-day work week;
- Opportunity for hybrid-work schedule may be available and to be determined by management;
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required;
- Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at organization discretion.
Salary
$20.32 - $23.52 per hour
