Role Overview
We're seeking an experienced Project Architect to take ownership of project development from concept to completion.
This role involves leading the architectural design, coordination, and documentation for a variety of multi-discipline projects - including civic facilities, educational institutions, public infrastructure, and transportation-related buildings.
You'll collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, and clients to ensure that every phase of design meets both creative and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead assigned architectural or multi-discipline projects and coordinate with internal and external design teams, consultants, and clients.
Develop and oversee complete project documentation, ensuring compliance with state and local building codes and client standards.
Review architectural drawings and documents for design accuracy and code completeness before submission.
Mentor and guide junior design staff, fostering professional growth and accountability.
Conduct design coordination meetings, document discussions, and ensure follow-ups are actioned promptly.
Perform construction administration tasks - reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, conducting site visits, and preparing field reports.
Evaluate change orders, support value engineering, and ensure contractor performance aligns with approved design intent.
Collaborate with the Project Manager on staffing needs and scheduling, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones.
Required Skills & Tools
Strong technical competence in architecture and multidisciplinary coordination.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite , and NYS Energy Code Software.
Deep understanding of building codes, construction documentation, and permitting processes.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders effectively.
Leadership and mentoring capabilities to guide junior architects and design staff.
Experience & Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture (NAAB Accredited preferred).
6+ years of experience in architectural design and project documentation.
Professional Licensure in the State of New York (or eligibility for reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe).
