Maintenance Manager - District Five / DeLand Maintenance
This position will supervise employees spending majority of the time communication with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees' work. Managing the planning, reviewing, issuing and inspecting of all permits required for work within the State Right-of-Way. Serves as the Project Manager on district and local contracts.

Annual Salary Range : $73,995.81 - $95,759.28
Your Specific Responsibilities :
Supervises employees spending majority of the time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, and planning and directing employees' work. Has the authority to effectively recommend the hiring, transferring, suspension, lay off, recall's, promotions, discharges, assignments, rewards, or disciplinary actions for subordinate employees. Plans and directs workloads, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with subordinate staff. Provides direction and ensures that all subordinates receive training and instruction in methods and techniques necessary to safely perform their assigned tasks.
Manages the unit's contracting program. Performs the work to develop the contract specifications, including special provisions, cost estimates, justifications, and work quantities. Researches, analyzes and develops new and innovative approaches to contracting the maintenance needs of the unit. Manages the planning, reviewing, issuing and inspecting of all permits required for work within the State Right-of-Way, including inputting and maintaining information in the Departments Permit Tracking System. Provides management technical and engineering guidance / support to technicians and other engineering specialists to ensure that the Department's goals are met in issuance and inspection of the permitted encroachments / connections within the state road system.
Serves as the Project Manager on district and local contracts. Manages contract administration duties within the unit, including conducting all pre-bid conferences, active participation in pre-work conferences and routine follow-up with contract managers. Coordinates the resolution of any disputes, misunderstandings of contract conditions, claims against the Department and negotiations necessary to provide resolution.
Manages the unit's local agreements with the Department of Corrections and with government agencies desiring to contract with the Department under the Local Agreement Program.
Maintains contact with public officials, private companies, general public, and representative doing business with the Department. Promotes good public relations by providing accurate and timely, verbal and written responses to the public and other Department personnel. Review Roadway Design plans, Access Management plans and design scope of services providing comments for Operations Center to designer. Be active member in meetings & field reviews of design and construction projects for maintenance and access perspectives.
