Asphalt General Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated General Superintendent with a strong background in asphalt paving and construction to lead our field operations.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing large-scale asphalt projects, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

As a General Superintendent, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple projects, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring that all work is completed on time and within budget.

Will be responsible for overseeing 2 paving crews, 2 asphalt plans, have 5 Foreman as direct reports and 2-3 Plant Foreman.

This job is located in the Western Mass. area, relocation services provided if necessary.

Key Responsibilities :

• Project Oversight :
• Supervise and manage all field operations for asphalt paving projects.
• Ensure that all projects are executed according to contract specifications, design plans, and quality standards.
• Team Leadership :
• Lead, mentor, and develop field staff, including foremen, crew leaders, and laborers.
• Foster a positive and productive work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration.
• Scheduling and Planning :
• Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of all tasks.
• Coordinate with project managers to allocate resources and personnel effectively.
• Quality Control :
• Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure all work meets required standards.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and identify any issues or areas for improvement.
• Safety Management :
• Promote and enforce a culture of safety on all job sites.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
• Conduct safety meetings and training sessions for field staff.
• Resource Management :
• Manage and allocate equipment, materials, and other resources to optimize productivity.
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Problem Solving :
• Identify and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during project execution.
• Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to address concerns and keep projects on track.
• Reporting and Documentation :
• Maintain accurate records of project progress, daily reports, and other documentation.
• Prepare and present regular status reports to senior management and clients.

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in asphalt paving and construction
• Strong knowledge of asphalt materials, methods, and industry standards.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
