Overview
The Judicial Department works to provide equal access to justice, contribute to public safety, and strengthen the rule of law across Colorado. Together our courts and probation departments are committed to impartial and timely dispute resolution; support for families, litigants, and victims; client rehabilitation; and meaningful community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Manages Realtime court reporting services and provides professional Realtime verbatim reporting and transcribing for court proceedings, hearings and conferences. Manages fewer than 8 FTE court reporters. Certification requirements are the same as for the Court Reporter III or IV.
- The successful candidate provides Realtime court reporting services and supervises staff court reporters and coordinates coverage for contract court reporters. Supervisory experience is preferred.
- Maintains backlog of transcripts, production, distribution, and management of transcript invoicing for all requested proceedings. Ensures backup of stenographic notes, rough drafts, and completed transcripts.
- Attends mandatory Judicial Department trainings and continuing education to maintain certification.
- Performs administrative and clerical duties related to the court, including maintaining files and court documents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities : Supervises and monitors performance for a regular group of employees (1 or more full-time) including hiring / discipline input, work objectives, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed.Human Collaboration : Interactions may involve policy implementation, sensitive issues, or presentations. Contacts may involve stressful interactions with the public requiring tact.Freedom To Act & Impact Of Actions : Receives limited direction; work assigned with some autonomy; performance reviewed periodically; moderate impact of actions.Knowledge, Skills & Fiscal Responsibility
Knowledge & Skills : Expert in area of expertise related to the work; technical skills applicable across contexts.Fiscal Responsibility : May assist in data collection for budget recommendations; may monitor division or program budget and expenditures.Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience Equivalency : Associate's degree or 2 years of college; or substitution of work experience on a year-for-year basis.Work Related Experience : 3 to 5 years of experience in court reporting.Licenses And Certifications : RPR certification.Physical Effort Requirements : Medium work, with related lifting considerations as described.Work Location : Office or similar indoor environment.Exposures : Individuals who are hostile or irate; individuals with known violent backgrounds.Colorado Judicial experience is preferred.
