POSITION SUMMARY :
Position is responsible for obtaining Authorization for surgery for The Buncke Medical Clinic and Plastic Surgery Center, Coordinating surgery schedules for all Surgeons.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Communicate with patients in a professional, friendly manner. Maintains professional and considerate relationships with all Buncke Medical Clinic customers both internal and external striving for excellent customer service.
Must adhere to Customer Service quality service guidelines.
Contact Insurance companies to obtain Authorization for surgeries for all providers at The Buncke Medical Clinic and Plastic Surgery Institute.
Must adhere to Customer Service quality service guidelines.
- Business dress will be worn at all times.
- Assist administratively, including (but not limited to) entering notes, faxing notices, scanning documents, sorting and mailing documents, by using various computer and manual systems, as directed by Office Manager.
Must be computer literate.
- Utilize Google Calendar to assist in managing 6 or more Surgeons Schedules.
- Submits RFA for Workers Compensation patients.
- Verify Insurance for New and Established Patient Office visits.
- Collaborate with outside offices when The Buncke Medical Clinic surgeons perform Co-surgery cases.
- Assist with incoming urgent transfer patients.
- Adheres to Procedure Manual of all duties and responsibilities of the Authorization and Surgical Coordinator, as directed by Office Manager.
- Accepts and performs other duties as assigned by Office Manager.
- Inputs Insurance information accurately and collects Coinsurance.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS :
ATTENDANCE : Must be punctual, and consistent attendance is required to fulfill the role and responsibilities of the position.
The Authorization and Surgical Coordinator daily work schedule begins at 8 : 30AM and ends at 5 : 00PM.
EDUCATION AND / OR TRAINING : High school graduate. Additionally, equivalent work experience, at least five (5) years preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES : Superior oral and written communication skills, professional and creative approach to problem resolution, strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize daily tasks.
Knowledge of general clerical / office systems and office organization required. Working knowledge of basic computer operations.
EXPERIENCE : Insurance knowledge strongly desired. Experience using multi-line telephone systems and Epic Medical Records preferred.
PERSONAL ERGONOMICS : Complies with policies and procedures, equipment orientation and workspace set-up to ensure personal safety and well being as it relates to ergonomically sound usage, reporting immediately to management any complications or difficulties regarding appropriate usage of workplace and equipment.
OTHER CRITERIA : Complies with policies and procedures; performs job safely with respect to others, to property, and to individual safety;
works effectively with others to encourage teamwork and productivity. Maintains strict confidence of client information, insuring client’s privacy, and does not discuss internal business with external entities.
Consistently maintains a cheerful, positive, professional, and presentable appearance, both in person and on the telephone.
