Job Description
You will be responsible for the design and development of Atlis XP platform Electric Drive unit consisting of the Electric motor, Gearbox, Inverter and associated Cooling System.
As part of the Atlis XP Platform team you will be a hands-on leader guiding and designing the eDrive system, contributing specific motor design and control systems experience.
You will be working closely with the other product development groups (Chassis, Electronics, Vehicle Engineering, ) and corporate functions (Manufacturing, Sales, Quality, ) to deliver robust products aligned with Atlis product vision.
The role will also be responsible for establishing and developing eDrive design processes, standards, tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities :
- Reporting to the VP of Vehicle Engineering you will lead eDrive unit design and development activities
- Create product designs and lead design and engineering colleagues to construct, release and validate eDrive component and system designs
- Provide hands-on design and development of the eDrive motor and associated magnetic rotor and stator systems of the eDrive unit
- Development and integration of Gearbox, Inverter and Cooling systems of the eDrive Unit
- Design and development of thermal management system and integration of motor, gearbox, and control systems cooling.
- Design and development of Motor, Gearbox and Controller enclosures.
- Apply fundamental physics and good engineering practice to lead the progression of designs from initial concept to product launch
- Working with manufacturing teams to bring the eDrive unit robustly to Production
- Engage with supply chain, quality, validation, and manufacturing groups to ensure the eDrive Unit meets all critical business and performance objectives
- Utilize appropriate engineering quality tools and techniques (FMEA, DVP&R, DoE, ) to ensure robust designs
- Cascade product vision into engineering specifications and performance attributes required to direct and drive system and component designs
- Ideate and create concept solutions for eDrive systems and quickly evaluate competing solutions to select the best alternative for the product vision and performance requirements
- Evaluate designs for manufacturing feasibility and establish Design for Manufacture activities
- Lead problem solving activities and ensure route cause understanding to develop effective countermeasures
- Provide day to day direction of product design and development staff for the eDrive systems
- Create, track monitor and report delivery of eDrive development activities
- Ensure projects are kept on track and executed with sound engineering principles to ensure Atlis success
- Create and maintain product and program performance tracking metrics and supporting documents Master timing plans, design and validation status, program open issues and budget tracking etc.
- Prepares presentations for program milestone reviews and to support key system design and development proposals
- Work with suppliers to direct and support their activities towards the supply of products and or services
- Operates flexibly conducts all duties reasonable requested by direct manager, customer and or key stakeholders
- Maintains strict confidentiality in all programs commercial and personnel matters
Ideally, you have experience with :
- eDrive design and development with either Motor, Gearbox and or inverter / controller or cooling systems
- Detailed motor and or gearbox design and development concepts and methods throughout the product life cycle
- Manufacturing solutions and material selection
- Hands development of project plans, work plans, and team build up
- A minimum of 5 years experience in eDrive component or systems design
- Microsoft office tools with a high level of expertise in Excel and Power Point
- CAD systems and use of, or familiarity with, FEA tools and techniques
- Engineering problem solving and quality tools such as, FMEA, DVP, 8D, DoE, Fault trees, etc.
and youre someone who is :
- Bachelors or Master's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years professional experience
- Strong organizational skills (Can see through the short-term priority conflicts and noise)
- Excellent communicator
- Creative & critical thinker
- Self-starter who is willing to get their hands dirty
- Team player who is excited by rapid development cycles
