Salary : $90,000 - 120,000 / year
The AV Field Engineer is responsible for the on-site technical execution, testing, and commissioning of integrated audiovisual systems. This includes verifying system functionality, troubleshooting complex issues, ensuring compliance with design documentation, and supporting installation teams. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge, hands-on field experience, and excellent communication skills to ensure each project is delivered to the highest standard.
Responsibilities
- Commission and configure AV systems, including control systems, DSPs, networked AV, video conferencing platforms, and display solutions.
- Conduct system verification and quality assurance testing to ensure compliance with design intent and performance standards.
- Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Work closely with project managers, programmers, and installation technicians to ensure timely and successful project completion.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and signal flow diagrams.
- Calibrate audio and video systems for optimal performance and user experience.
- Perform firmware updates, network configuration, and device-level programming (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Biamp, Shure, etc.).
- Document as-built configurations, test results, and system modifications for project turnover.
- Support client training and handover activities as required.
- Maintain tools, test equipment, and professional appearance in line with company standards.
- Adhere to safety procedures and industry best practices while working on job sites.
Requirements
3+ years of experience in commercial AV installation, commissioning, or field engineering.Strong understanding of AV signal flow, control systems, and networking fundamentals .Proficiency with at least one major AV control or DSP platform (e.g., Crestron , Extron , Q-SYS , Biamp , AMX ).Familiarity with IP-based AV systems , video conferencing technologies (Zoom Rooms, Teams Rooms, Webex), and display / control integration.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills in the field.Strong communication and customer service skills.Willingness to travel regionally for project support (up to [XX]% as needed).Relevant certifications a plus : CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D, Crestron DMC-E, Q-SYS Level 2, Biamp Tesira, Extron Control Specialist , or equivalent.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
