POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Senior Fashion Designer will combine an innovative approach to textiles with a practical view of the end-products as usable garments.
The Senior Designer will oversee the development and sampling of their products. They will lead in creative concept and design of all day and evening categories.
This will include style / ?yarn / ?gauge selection, specifications and complete day, evening, and knitwear with Merchandising / ?
Design / ?Sourcing teams.? This role reports into the EVP and SVP, Design.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Day, evening, and knitwear design from initial conception, revision, and development
- Participate in weekly line review, departmental, and team meetings as needed to assure strong communication on all creative processes and product related issues
- Ensure production fits are to our specifications
- Attend all comparison fittings and first proto fittings on day, evening and knitwear styles
- Give concise feedback to technical design on how to adjust garments
- Research and identify trend directions and participate in trend overviews for each season
- Collaborate with design teams of other categories of the brand for cohesiveness of products
- Develop day, evening, and knitwear fabrics, color up prints, special trims, and styling details
- Work to ensure deadlines are met to reach company goals and objectives?
- Work closely with EVP and SVP of Design in all aspects of product development
- Collaborates cross departmental, Design & Manufacturing, to ensure day, evening and knitwear design development is leading edge in the industry, aesthetically aligned with St.
John design concepts, cost effective, and continually assessing and improving processes
- Support the product development team with tech pack creation
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with sales and marketing

- Travel throughout the domestic United States and Internationally as business necessitates

Education / Experience :
- 6 to 10 years of experience in the apparel industry in day, evening and knitwear design; women’s luxury a high plus
- BA / ?BS college degree in Fashion Design specializing in day, evening, and knitwear design
- Strong experience in yarn gauges, yarn qualities, machinery, and manufacturing of day, evening or knitwear
- Concrete knowledge of garment construction, fit and execution
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft word, excel, database systems, Photoshop, and illustrator
- In professional experience traveled, sources & developed a network / contact base in the day, evening, and knitwear industry throughout the US, Europe, and the Far East
- Ability to speak other languages, in addition to English preferred
