As a Senior Technical Artist , you will play a key role in bridging the gap between art and engineering. Youll leverage your deep understanding of game development tools and production workflows to support the creation, optimization, and integration of high-quality art assets into the game engine. In this role, youll be expected to collaborate closely with artists, engineers, and designers to develop and maintain efficient pipelines and tools, and to solve complex technical challenges related to rendering, shaders, and visual fidelity. Youll help drive innovation in visual development by applying creative problem-solving and scalable solutions. Youll also support large-scale production environments and distributed teams with a focus on performance and quality, and will contribute to a culture of open collaboration, continuous feedback, and rapid iteration.

This role offers a flexible hybrid work week, with a mix of remote and on-site days. While hybrid is the standard arrangement, youre also welcome to work on-site full-time if you prefer. Our primary studio locations are in Albany, NY, and Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain advanced shaders, materials, lighting workflows, and rendering pipelines tailored to Diablos visual style.
• Architect scalable art pipelines, tools, and automation to streamline content creation for large open worlds, dungeons, and VFX-heavy combat.
• Partner with engineering to profile and resolve GPU / CPU bottlenecks while preserving artistic intent.
• Act as the primary liaison between art and engine teams, ensuring that artistic vision aligns with technical constraints.
• Research new rendering techniques, procedural workflows, and content-generation tools (Houdini, Substance, etc.) to elevate Diablos unique gothic atmosphere.
• Provide technical guidance to mid / junior technical artists and share best practices across the Diablo art team.
• Define and maintain technical art standards, best practices, and guidelines that scale across the franchise.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this roles range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
