Position Summary :
The primary role of the Residential Manager is to ensure that all of the needs of the people supported in the program are met while working in partnership with them. These needs include, but are not limited to ensuring their rights are both promoted and respected, supporting their health and safety and working with them to identify and realize their personal outcomes. In order to accomplish this, the Residential Manager leads a team of Direct Support Professionals in conjunction with clinical providers works alongside the people they support to develop plans to meet the individuals’ needs. The Residential Manager is also responsible for ensuring that these plans are both followed and documented in an appropriate and timely manner. The sites these positions will cover are located in Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Essential Functions :
- Work in partnership with the people we support to ensure their rights, health, safety, and personal outcomes are prioritized. Advocate for their individualized choices, needs, and quality care in various situations to ensure they receive the support they deserve.
- Maintain ongoing communication and build strong partnerships with individuals, their family members, and external providers (e.g., employers, day services) to ensure that all supports and services are aligned with the needs of the people served and are delivered effectively.
- Manage and approve team members' time and scheduling, ensuring adequate staffing to meet the needs of individuals supported.
- Fulfill on-call duties as necessary and cover Direct Support Professional (DSP) responsibilities when required.
- Oversee residence and individual finances, ensuring compliance and proper balance. Manage financial ledgers, receipts, petty cash, and individuals' personal allowance accounts, ensuring all records are kept up-to-date and accurate.
- Manage incidents according to OPWDD 624 regulations, participate in Incident Review and Human Rights Committees, and ensure all incidents are documented and resolved in compliance with agency policies. Adhere to all regulatory requirements in managing and reporting incidents.
- Conduct regular inspections of the physical plant, including residences and program vehicles, ensuring that all facilities and equipment are well-maintained, clean, and safe. Keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure adherence to agency policies, OPWDD regulations, and all corresponding documentation is filed accurately at the program site.
- Enforce progressive discipline as necessary, and ensure all staff are compliant with the agency’s operational procedures and guidelines.
- Help to push the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and retention of high-quality staff. Ensure that the team is well-trained, equipped with the right tools, and committed to the success of the individuals supported.
- Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to ensure that all programs, services, and activities are designed to meet the specific needs of the individuals in the residence. Monitor progress and adjust services as needed to align with individual goals and outcomes.
- Provide direct supervision to the Assistant Manager and Direct Support Professionals, ensuring that team members are fulfilling their roles and responsibilities efficiently. Offer guidance, mentorship, and address performance issues promptly.
- Attend and actively participate in all relevant meetings, including Incident Review, Human Rights Committees, and program surveys. Ensure that all required documentation is completed appropriately and in a timely manner, including incident reports, training logs, and financial records.
- Organize and monitor medical needs for residents, including medication administration. Ensure that all medical records are up-to-date, and that all medication is administered according to prescribed schedules and regulations.
- Conduct regular physical plant inspections and ensure that the residence, including the external property and program vehicles, are clean, safe, and attractive. Maintain a tracking log of completed maintenance and work at the site.
- Oversee daily monitoring, review, and submission of billing documentation. Ensure all financial transactions are accurately documented and comply with relevant billing procedures.
- Attend all program audits and, in collaboration with the Assistant Manager, follow through on the audit’s written plan of corrective action. Ensure all necessary improvements are implemented and tracked.
- Enforce progressive discipline based on agency policies and procedures for all residential staff. Address performance issues with appropriate corrective action and support performance improvement efforts as necessary.

Education :HS Diploma or equivalent
Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)Experience :Minimum one year of supervisory experience
If internal candidate does not have 1 year of supervisory experience, they can qualify if they successfully passed their probation period, have a recommendation from their current supervisor and Vice President; this candidate would need to successfully complete internal management training within 120 days in the manager role
Minimum one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities and / or mental health disordersSpecialized Training, Licenses, Certifications :Not required, training will be provided upon hire as needed
Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities :Proficient computer skills strongly preferred

This role is performed in-person, some travel in an agency vehicle might be required from agency drivers.
