SOLUTIONS WILL COMPLETE A PRESCREEN
WITH PETS - CC MUST PUT IN A SPECIAL HOUSING FINDS PRIOR TO
PLACEMENT
to 2 patients generally, sometimes 1 : 1 ICU also takes overflow PCU
and MED / SURG patients when needed and ICU nurses care for these at
a ratio of approximately 3-5 : 1 depending on the availabilitiy of
CNA's. Common diagnoses / Types of patients General
Medical / surgical critical care, STEMI, PNA, COVID, DKA, CVA, ETOH,
overdose, etc Experience or 'Must have' skills Vent
management, pressor management Impella and balloon pump experience
ideal but not required…low volume patients for us Are RNs required
to titrate drips? yes Common titratable & / or set rate drips
Precedex, insulin, epi, norepi, propofol Charge Nurse / House
Supervisor Charge nurse on unit, takes patients Are there nurse
aids on this unit / Ratios sometimes, depending on mix of patients
and availability of staff Hospitalist or Intensivist in house
hospitalist in house 24 / 7, intensivist available by page but not in
house 24 / 7 RT in ICU 24 / 7 yes RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap,
etc) V60's, we use a lot of bipap,cpap and high flow nasal
canula (HFNC) as well. Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs?
RNs read strips? Yes, we have a Central Monitoring Unit staffed
with a MT at all times. We also have two additional MT's
who staff ICU and PCU 24 / 7. RN's do read strips and verify
measurements and interpretation by MT. Shifts & Scheduling 12
hours shifts, 0545-1815 and 1745-0615, scheduling for travelers is
variable depended on needs. Weekend Requirement yes, typically
every other weekend but varies based on needs Holiday Requirement
yes Is there a call or standby requirement? no Floating
Requirements yes, to PCU which is our sister unit next door. We
also get PCU and MED / SUR overflow within ICU. Scrub Color / Dress
Code nothing specific, just clean and professional looking
Unit / Department specific orientation yes, typically 1-2 shifts,
depending on experience and whether or not they have been to SLMC
before Additional Notes Prefer minimum of 2.5-3 years of ICU
experience, first time travel assignments are okay with acceptable
experience
